Where does upgRATE's rate data come from?
From the Machine-Readable Files every major U.S. insurer is required to publish monthly under the federal Transparency in Coverage rule (2022).
Do you partner with any insurance company?
No. upgRATE is not affiliated or partnered with any insurance company.
Which payers do you cover?
We currently support Anthem (BCBS), United, Aetna, and Cigna. We are constantly adding more payers.
Which CPT codes are supported?
The high-volume mental health codes: 90837, 90834, 90791, 90847, 90785. More specialties coming — see the waitlist.
How long does a negotiation take?
Once you send out your rate increase letter, expect a response within 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the payer and the time of year. Some payers require constant follow ups to provide a response.
Do I need to upload my existing contract?
No. We pull your current rates from the payer public data via your EIN and NPI. We will ask you to verify your rates using the EOBs you received from the payer.
What states do you support?
We currently support NY state mental health therapists, but are actively working on adding support to additional states. Join our waitlist to be notified when we join your state.
